01

Making winding

Winding is a blank of a product, its part without sides, internal partitions and accessories. It is made using a winding machine and a mandrel. It is made using a winding machine and a mandrel. The mandrels are of different diameters, these diameters correspond to the inner diameters of future containers.

Manufacturing process:

  • the winding machine rotates the mandrel around its axis;
  • on this mandrel at an angle to the axis of rotation, layers of glass fiber are continuously applied in a crosswise manner, having previously passed through a bath filled with polyester resin. This winding method is called cross winding;
  • the thickness of this layer is determined in advance by the designer and depends on the volume of the product and the strength characteristics required by the project.

02

Mechanical restoration

After making the required thickness of the winding, it is dried, then removed from the mandrel. If the length of the future container should be less than the length of the mandrel, then the winding is shortened to the required parameters.

If the length of the container should be greater than the length of the mandrel, then several windings are made, and then they are connected together using the same resin and glass thread.

At the junction of the two windings, the container wall thickness will be greater. This thickening is called a stiffener.

03

Side parts manufacturing

Internal partitions, side parts of the container - mushrooms, are made by spraying. For each diameter of the mandrel (and hereinafter - containers) there is its own blank (matrix) of the side parts. The same is for partitions - there are blanks of the required dimensions.

A layer of fiberglass (roving) mixed with resin is sprayed on top of these blanks. A chopper is used to grind fiberglass. It cuts the glass fiber into small particles.

It is then mixed with the separately supplied resin and sprayed onto the surface of the mold. After spraying the desired layer, the products are dried.

04

Side part molding

After drying the winding inside it, if necessary, partitions, protrusions are attached, places for installing measuring instruments are laid.

When the inner parts are formed, the mushrooms are attached. They are hand molded using fiberglass and resin.

Then the product is dried again.

05

Forming of branch pipes

According to the design drawings, holes are made in the container for branch pipes and technical wells. The material of the branch pipes and the diameter are agreed in advance with the customer.

Then nipples are molded in place of the holes using fiberglass and resin.

In the place of technical wells, a neck is molded. The technical wells themselves with lids are made separately using the same technology.

Goods

GRP and FRP fiberglass products

The production facilities of BioPlast LLC allow to manufacture HELYX fiberglass products of the GRP type (glass-reinforced plastic) and FRP type (fiber-reinforced plastic) for various industries by continuous winding from fiberglass, resin and quartz sand.

GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) - fiberglass pipes and pipeline parts for pumping various liquids and gases in industry, agriculture and housing and communal services, as well as for water supply in cooling and fire extinguishing systems. GRP products are resistant to corrosion, have high mechanical properties. In the production process, the introduction of reinforced fibers is practiced FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) for fiberglass reinforcement.
