General description

The vortex separator HELYX is designed to separate suspended solids from wastewater - light floating (oils, fats and various derivatives of petroleum products) - and solid particles (sand, small stones, etc.).


The vortex separator is used to separate suspended solids, oils and oil products, floating and solid particles from storm sewage. It is permissible to use a separator for pre-treatment before treatment facilities and proportional removal of the load on the treatment facilities. The vortex separator is used in storm drain systems, for protecting pipelines and networks from clogging.


The liquid flow enters tangentially to the inner wall of the separator body. As a result, a vortex jet is formed, directed downward along a spiral trajectory. While driving, light substances contained in the effluent (oil products, fats and other components lighter than water) are separated in a special compartment. Heavy elements (sand, stones and other solids) precipitate to the bottom of the hull (usually cone-shaped).

A sewage machine is used to clean the separator. The sediment is pumped out through the upper hatch of the device.


The design of the vortex separator makes it possible to significantly increase the separation efficiency, reduce turbulence and head loss, and also prevents the accumulated substances from being washed out from the storage. The storm drain is directed tangentially to the outer casing of the separator, while generating a vortex flow directed along a spiral path around the central module of the separator to the base of the installation.

Нефтепродукты и другие вещества, имеющие положительную плавучесть, отделяются от общего стока и аккумулируются в специальном отсеке. По мере прохождения потока по заданной траектории вокруг центрального модуля происходит осаждение веществ с отрицательной плавучестью в защищенный контейнер.

Очищенный сток перенаправляется в верхнею зону сепаратора внутри центрального модуля, с последующим выходом за пределы системы очистки. Эффективность вихревой сепарации достигается в следствии удлинения и стабилизации пути прохождения потока, а также аккумулирования собранных загрязняющих стоки веществ. Вихревой сепаратор показывает высокие характеристики по удержанию от вымывания собранных загрязнений.
