Metallurgy is one of the largest consumers of water. Its water consumption accounts for 15-20% of the total water consumption by industrial enterprises of the country.
Wastewater from metallurgical production is contaminated with suspended particles formed during cleaning from dust, ash and other solid materials. They contain mechanical impurities of organic and mineral origin, including heavy metals, petroleum products, toxic compounds.
Rolling production, in addition, is a source of contamination with oils, emulsions and pickling solutions. The approximate qualitative composition of wastewater is the same, the concentration of pollutants varies widely depending on the technological process.
When choosing the technology of wastewater treatment of metallurgical enterprises, it is necessary to be guided by the requirements for the quality of purified water. High concentrations of oils, mineral contaminants, as well as mechanical impurities suggest cleaning in several stages, which will allow it to be brought to the required degree.
